<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hi Lovely people!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I might be a little bit late but I wish you all the greatest things for this new year! I had a great 2015 and 2016 will be even better!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Today it is my turn at the Good Hair Day blog hop and I have something special for you: </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was so honored to play with the newest fabric collection of the fabulous <a href="http://iadorepattern.com/" target="_blank">Kim Anderson</a> again. <b><a href="http://baumtextile.uberflip.com/i/555998-goodhairday-lookbook-web" target="_blank">Good Hair day</a></b>. How great is the name? I wish every day would be a good hair day. But as we all know- it isn´t like this always. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So why not cheering you up on a bad hair day with some Good Hair Day fabric and making something awesome with it. Like the fun quilt I made?<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XcJq9gejrqs/Vog3Og-2s7I/AAAAAAAAC_Y/p8lgc4cqUCo/s1600/GHD_BraidsQuilt_Flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XcJq9gejrqs/Vog3Og-2s7I/AAAAAAAAC_Y/p8lgc4cqUCo/s400/GHD_BraidsQuilt_Flat.jpg" width="335" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
It is called "Braids Quilt". </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I don´t have a proper pattern for you this time but I wipped up a quick tutorial for you on how to construct the braids. Then you decide how long you want the braid to be. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>For a braid segment like this you will need:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_HNc-a2pnvI/VoevPQtsBLI/AAAAAAAAC8g/MfwGlYz-pp4/s1600/DSCN0147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_HNc-a2pnvI/VoevPQtsBLI/AAAAAAAAC8g/MfwGlYz-pp4/s400/DSCN0147.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1 6" square of your backround fabric</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 6" squares of both of your braids fabrics</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 5" squares of both of your braids fabrics</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cut your 6" backround fabric square diagonally twice (as shown on the picture)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mjc94erNjS4/VoevMzsgDsI/AAAAAAAAC60/oJhGFz-un1E/s1600/DSCN0135.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mjc94erNjS4/VoevMzsgDsI/AAAAAAAAC60/oJhGFz-un1E/s400/DSCN0135.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>Sewing:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Arrange your pieces like this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ymfIgdqalig/VoezTy4ip5I/AAAAAAAAC9s/s0SFCvS5Cc8/s1600/DSCN0139.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ymfIgdqalig/VoezTy4ip5I/AAAAAAAAC9s/s0SFCvS5Cc8/s400/DSCN0139.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kc5NSskhBwU/VoezW9o05LI/AAAAAAAAC-k/GjdyKIyUJFI/s1600/DSCN0140.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kc5NSskhBwU/VoezW9o05LI/AAAAAAAAC-k/GjdyKIyUJFI/s400/DSCN0140.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
First sew together the smaller triangles. Iron the seam allowances to the darker side. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nBgyJkTfT9U/VoezWppBBdI/AAAAAAAAC-c/U4D1YTqYb58/s1600/DSCN0141.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nBgyJkTfT9U/VoezWppBBdI/AAAAAAAAC-c/U4D1YTqYb58/s400/DSCN0141.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TCNfUL1hnLE/VoevO6n05xI/AAAAAAAAC8U/KBBBqxsK1XM/s1600/DSCN0142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TCNfUL1hnLE/VoevO6n05xI/AAAAAAAAC8U/KBBBqxsK1XM/s400/DSCN0142.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Then sew together the pieced triangles with the bigger triangles. At this point I like to chainpiece them all together. Just be careful not to get confused. The triangles which are not pieced are slightly bigger than the pieced ones. Don´t worry you are going to trim them later. After you have sewn all your triangles together, iron the seam allowances to the bigger triangle. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xFUSBAaBkkk/VoevN0ZjZQI/AAAAAAAAC7o/00U4rp3NAFI/s1600/DSCN0143.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xFUSBAaBkkk/VoevN0ZjZQI/AAAAAAAAC7o/00U4rp3NAFI/s400/DSCN0143.jpg" width="300" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now trim your pieced squares to a 5" square. Arrange them with your 5" squares as shown below.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zl0q-CDLrWs/Voeyu__e7zI/AAAAAAAAC9g/Uph8qV8DrWY/s1600/DSCN0145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zl0q-CDLrWs/Voeyu__e7zI/AAAAAAAAC9g/Uph8qV8DrWY/s400/DSCN0145.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cBcuQv92rNs/VoevOVgnpMI/AAAAAAAAC74/HCoSCiRCMjc/s1600/DSCN0144.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cBcuQv92rNs/VoevOVgnpMI/AAAAAAAAC74/HCoSCiRCMjc/s400/DSCN0144.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now sew them all together. Iron your seam allowances to the squares which are not pieced. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;"></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W0HZnOKldTo/VoevOlZ4N4I/AAAAAAAAC8M/Xq9Fo6hnSdo/s1600/DSCN0146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W0HZnOKldTo/VoevOlZ4N4I/AAAAAAAAC8M/Xq9Fo6hnSdo/s400/DSCN0146.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xFUSBAaBkkk/VoevN0ZjZQI/AAAAAAAAC7o/00U4rp3NAFI/s1600/DSCN0143.jpg" imageanchor="1"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; color: black;"></span></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Voila you have made a braid segment. Now you can repeat the whole process as often as you want and create your very own braids quilt.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-55YWMn2l44I/Veg0lnFvB4I/AAAAAAAAC6M/UUSMxZ03U34/s1600/IMG_0489-001.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-55YWMn2l44I/Veg0lnFvB4I/AAAAAAAAC6M/UUSMxZ03U34/s400/IMG_0489-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Voilá,I finished the Bee quilt top. Can´t wait to (hand-)quilt it when I am at <br />
home.Along with the other 4 quilttops waiting to be turned into a quilt.<br />
Maybe, I will try tying a quilt for the first time. I really want to <br />
finish some quilt. The tops are piling up. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T4SgYjr1EJw/Veg0gpS0fVI/AAAAAAAAC58/hBGv3UyTu1w/s1600/IMG_0502-001.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T4SgYjr1EJw/Veg0gpS0fVI/AAAAAAAAC58/hBGv3UyTu1w/s400/IMG_0502-001.JPG" width="300" /> </a></div>
So! Ich habe meine Bee Quilt Top fertig gestellt. Ich freu mich schon <br />
darauf ihn zuhause (hand-) zu quilten. Genauso wie 4 weitere Tops, <br />
welche noch zuhause herumliegen. Vielleicht werde ich mal einen <br />
Knotenquilt versuchen. Ich würde wirklich gerne ein paar Quilts fertig <br />
machen. Die Tops häufen sich. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RdvZrejHklg/Veg0oSoKGUI/AAAAAAAAC6U/hbd8a8QPiCg/s1600/IMG_0503-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RdvZrejHklg/Veg0oSoKGUI/AAAAAAAAC6U/hbd8a8QPiCg/s400/IMG_0503-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
And then there was Makerist. That is like a german version of Craftsy. A <br />
very nice lady from the Makerist Team contacted me some time ago and <br />
asked me if I would be interested in filming an quilting workshop for <br />
beginners with them. I certainly was. So we did and for about two weeks <br />
the course is online. I am really proud and I think it covers all that <br />
you need if you want to learn quilting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RdvZrejHklg/Veg0oSoKGUI/AAAAAAAAC6U/hbd8a8QPiCg/s1600/IMG_0503-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/muskrjpeGqE" width="480"></iframe><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Falls Du also jemanden kennst der es lernen möchte. Ich kann meinen Kurs durchaus empfehlen.... :-)</div>

It gives me the possibilities to take a break from laying at the pool and harvesting fruit and nuts and of course eating. ;-)<br />
Last year I took the blocks of my bee germany month and assembled the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/36887462@N03/14944758970" target="_blank">quilt top</a>. I really enjoy this work in the sun.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-re7nKvuU2nY/VeQsQs9NykI/AAAAAAAAC5U/kEEnM8iV3f0/s1600/IMG_0435-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-re7nKvuU2nY/VeQsQs9NykI/AAAAAAAAC5U/kEEnM8iV3f0/s400/IMG_0435-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Yesterday I started sewing with this years bee blocks. Here is what I have done so far:<br />
My fellow bee ladies made some very colourful Dresden plates for me and for the backround I assembled squares of brownish fabrics to mellow the brightness of the Dredens. I think it is going to be really cute.<br />
Later a storm appeared and I had to take a break.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krY2iVgPH_M/VeQsK42FWfI/AAAAAAAAC5E/g3zON-buAC0/s1600/IMG_0437-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krY2iVgPH_M/VeQsK42FWfI/AAAAAAAAC5E/g3zON-buAC0/s400/IMG_0437-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g94JQQDrRpU/VeQsOQRzCCI/AAAAAAAAC5M/LN--ehL178U/s1600/IMG_0462-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g94JQQDrRpU/VeQsOQRzCCI/AAAAAAAAC5M/LN--ehL178U/s400/IMG_0462-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-r1z4xWLkGbs/VeQsV1Tk1uI/AAAAAAAAC5c/qohM8fHsWLk/s1600/IMG_0468-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-r1z4xWLkGbs/VeQsV1Tk1uI/AAAAAAAAC5c/qohM8fHsWLk/s400/IMG_0468-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Gestern dann habe ich dann mit der diessjährigen Beeaufgabe angefangen. Hier seht Ihr was ich bislang gemacht habe:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vbi2ZQdKTPo/VeQsYSS4RaI/AAAAAAAAC5k/9x4lwM4R_u0/s1600/IMG_0470-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vbi2ZQdKTPo/VeQsYSS4RaI/AAAAAAAAC5k/9x4lwM4R_u0/s400/IMG_0470-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RBKskKkGMxw/VeHJJ6Pe90I/AAAAAAAAC4g/p5rMLFlXUuw/s1600/IMG_0410-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RBKskKkGMxw/VeHJJ6Pe90I/AAAAAAAAC4g/p5rMLFlXUuw/s400/IMG_0410-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-urLg3Qil6PA/VeHJIDs2P-I/AAAAAAAAC4U/ljasALvJQ0E/s1600/IMG_0415-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-urLg3Qil6PA/VeHJIDs2P-I/AAAAAAAAC4U/ljasALvJQ0E/s400/IMG_0415-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jd0hpSs8RYk/VeHJS1RsU8I/AAAAAAAAC40/_6NDawjB5Ds/s1600/IMG_0418-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jd0hpSs8RYk/VeHJS1RsU8I/AAAAAAAAC40/_6NDawjB5Ds/s400/IMG_0418-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Und dann quilten. Komische Leidenschaft. Seit einigen Jahren.
<br />
Puh- persönlich!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J4CeYF8iJUk/VeHJQqiwKzI/AAAAAAAAC4s/e54g9og03IA/s1600/IMG_0419-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J4CeYF8iJUk/VeHJQqiwKzI/AAAAAAAAC4s/e54g9og03IA/s400/IMG_0419-001.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Was genau will ich eigentlich mit diesem Post sagen?
<br />
<br />

Having made such an unusual thing made me thinking about how I start creating. The inspiration for this quiltpattern came from an abandoned couch which was dumped on these dirty streets of Berlin. <div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UhEOiGcu50k/VO7rpTkw4CI/AAAAAAAAC28/srMME2YjVzI/s1600/20150127_112132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UhEOiGcu50k/VO7rpTkw4CI/AAAAAAAAC28/srMME2YjVzI/s1600/20150127_112132.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I saw it on a grey day at my way to work. I had to take a picture because I instantly saw a quilt in this filthy old couch. A few days later my boyfriend broke up and quite surprisingly I had to a lot of me time over. I started this quilt. I didn´t think about it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2_O7YAmIIQU/VO7rflhpW1I/AAAAAAAAC2Y/UaxKgvtH-aI/s1600/DSC_0230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2_O7YAmIIQU/VO7rflhpW1I/AAAAAAAAC2Y/UaxKgvtH-aI/s1600/DSC_0230.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is what I do with quilts. I don´t think. I start I make I finish. So often I tried to mix and match the perfect fabrics together, I sat in front of my stash and tried to make the most surprising combinations, but it never happened. In fact it frustrated me and stole the fun out of creating. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hEr9r2sLVbg/VO7rgmM_MHI/AAAAAAAAC2k/JSli4J1BExg/s1600/DSC_0231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hEr9r2sLVbg/VO7rgmM_MHI/AAAAAAAAC2k/JSli4J1BExg/s1600/DSC_0231.jpg" height="427" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And then I noticed that this happens often in my life. In work, in love, in creativity. When I overthink things I start to question myself. I have to do things spontaniously, if I don´t it just doesn´t work. And it is no fun and I become so stressed inside, that there is no possibility for the so called flow. <div>
And it all comes to one thing I still can learn more: Trust. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6tolFVIx5Ww/VO7rfe68iqI/AAAAAAAAC2U/dI04v8P4Y-w/s1600/DSC_0233.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6tolFVIx5Ww/VO7rfe68iqI/AAAAAAAAC2U/dI04v8P4Y-w/s1600/DSC_0233.jpg" height="640" width="428" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If I trusted myself and god (the universe or whoever) more I wouldn´t question myself all the time. I could life happily and do my thing, without worrying where it will lead me. Sometimes it works and I am getting better.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SBayixbGvbg/VO7rgfTjWqI/AAAAAAAAC2s/8b_CgM7Apzw/s1600/DSC_0235.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SBayixbGvbg/VO7rgfTjWqI/AAAAAAAAC2s/8b_CgM7Apzw/s1600/DSC_0235.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I thought about this blogpost for a few days now, but now that I write it, I am not sure if I can explain it enough, if it is understandable what I mean. If it makes sense at all. </div>
<div>
But then again, who cares, this is mostly a quilting blog, right? Why do I have to have the perfect philosophical and psychological ideas, advices on hand? </div>
<div>
Just because I think I have to. But I don´t. This is a quilting blog. So here is the quilt top. I hope you like! :-) I do. </div>

Oh my, it has been so long since I have been blogging, I don´t even now which buttons to push.<br />
Sorry for that, but I definetely had my reasons. One of these reasons is that I was really and I mean really busy over christmas. And that started at the beginning of october. Last year I was really struggleing financialwise, and I new that I had to make the christmasbusiness awesome. And that ment sewing like crazy. I attended 3 christmas market weekends in december and I remember that in one period of five days in between two weekends I sewed 36 tops, 48 undies and 20 scarfes. Sleeping was overrated these weeks.<br />
But you now what? It payed of. Lets say I am getting there, Slowly but steady I can breath again. And relax and enjoy life. And I really mean enjoying.<br />
This is the second reason, that I didn´t find the time and energy to blog: I met a really nice man! We are dating and enjoying time together for four months now and it really feels good and real. So please accept my apologies for not beeing to uberactive here. I have some other things to do...;-)<br />
<br />
And there is a pattern.<br />
<br />
<br />
I am really exited to tell you that I wrote a pattern, finally.<br />
<br />

<br />

<br />
I wanted to do that for such a long time. I had already made <a href="http://berlinquilter.blogspot.de/2012/11/finally.html" target="_blank">two versions</a> of <a href="http://berlinquilter.blogspot.de/2012/11/another-interpretation.html" target="_blank">this particular quilt</a> and then in my last post I showed you the coloured pavement quilt I made with the amazing Tidal Lace fabric by Kim Anderson.<br />
<br />

And I promised to write a pattern. Well that had to wait until the last minute, again- I had other things to do... :-)<br />
<br />
But now it is finished. It is ready to get online. You will be able to buy it on craftsy.<br />
I am supernervous, because I never wrote a proper pattern before. I really hope it is understandable and well written, I checked a thousand times and I let some of my quiltbuddies, check and testsew aswell.<br />
<br />
So stay tuned it will happen this weekend!Berlinquilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09845325879160516952noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086923700490054482.post-29856227477446004882014-09-23T14:19:00.000+02:002014-09-23T16:35:40.282+02:00Tidal Lace and a giveaway!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hey Everybody, have you seen the new fabric collection by extra sweet and talented <a href="http://iadorepattern.com/blog/" target="_blank">Kim Andersson</a> of <a href="http://iadorepattern.com/" target="_blank">"I adore pattern"</a>? It is called <a href="http://baumtextile.uberflip.com/i/374386" target="_blank">"Tidal Lace"</a> and I was happy enough to have the chance of making something of it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5TQA61miVE/VBtFcZKdDYI/AAAAAAAAC0I/SbHtiCGrCTQ/s1600/TL_Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5TQA61miVE/VBtFcZKdDYI/AAAAAAAAC0I/SbHtiCGrCTQ/s1600/TL_Cover.jpg" height="640" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
I met Kim through the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1382986385304572/" target="_blank">"Quilt design a a day"</a> group on facebook. There is such a fun and talented crowd of people in this group, Kim is just one of them.<br />
But back to Tidal Lace. This fabric collection has such a summery feel to it, it make me want to go to the next beach ( about 200km far) right away, sit down in the sand and play with some shells.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1TRJ9h8k8s8/VBtFSkissvI/AAAAAAAACzw/0GC5CsPPKO0/s1600/ColoredPavementQuilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1TRJ9h8k8s8/VBtFSkissvI/AAAAAAAACzw/0GC5CsPPKO0/s1600/ColoredPavementQuilt.jpg" height="400" width="392" /></a></div>
When Kim asked me if I wanted to play with it and when I saw the fabrics, I was immediately drawn to the <a href="http://www.windhamfabrics.net/php/fabricshop/fabricshop.php?a=sc&Category=767&file=6&pass=1" target="_blank">ombre</a> print in the collection and I wanted to use this as the main fabric.<br />
The "coloured pavement" quilt pattern came into my mind, a pattern that I designed a few years back ( it will be available in January as a PDF download right in time when Tidal Lace hits the stores)<br />
<br />
As I am the last to write about Tidal Lace, I just can recommend to go back to all the blog hop stops from the last couple of days, there are so many wonderful projects to admire.<br />
Before I forget, there is a giveaway, Windham is giving away a fatquarter bundle of Tidal Lace. Just leave a comment and the winner will be drawn soon!<br />

I finished my Bee Germany Quilt this weekend, and today I found the time to take a good photo of it, so that you can have a look. I really like what all my lovely bees did, I like how it turned out, even though it has a quite odd shape, but I really didn´t know, where to cut, or what to add, so I thought well I take it as it is... </div>

I think of using it on the couch, or maybe with a wholecloth blanked underneath it on the bed... </div>

Dear Bees, thank you so much for helping me with this one, I know it wasn´t always easy. </div>

<br />
I know time flies, its more than 6 weeks since my last post. Well there was a lot going on. I renovated and furnished the shop, went for holidays in spain with my family and finally last friday there was the shop opening.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LVn7T-4GMDY/VA3fY8vaYpI/AAAAAAAACzE/2lIReSmfiH8/s1600/Foto%2B5-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LVn7T-4GMDY/VA3fY8vaYpI/AAAAAAAACzE/2lIReSmfiH8/s1600/Foto%2B5-1.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course I didn´t take proper photos, these are some I phone photos by a friend of mine. Maybe I can manage to take some nice and detailed pictures soon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xqML9XM7jz8/VA3fWUlqCuI/AAAAAAAACy8/iQ9zr1jCRcM/s1600/Foto%2B1-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xqML9XM7jz8/VA3fWUlqCuI/AAAAAAAACy8/iQ9zr1jCRcM/s1600/Foto%2B1-1.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Right now it doesn´t look too impressive, but believe me it is a really nice shop. :-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sxwnccDoJZQ/VA3fTpd8foI/AAAAAAAACy0/dDFXA8jolBw/s1600/Foto%2B3-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sxwnccDoJZQ/VA3fTpd8foI/AAAAAAAACy0/dDFXA8jolBw/s1600/Foto%2B3-1.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And there was spain, ahh spain my place to relax, to browse through fruit and nuts, my place where I calm down, because there is nothing I could worry about... (ecxept mothers sometimes, who doesn´t know that? ;-))<br />
I spent my days fig drying, almond picking and of course I could squeeze in some stitching, too. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1ywVOvp8vRU/VA3haLWyNAI/AAAAAAAACzQ/sek2YJBYiWU/s1600/20140824_153432.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1ywVOvp8vRU/VA3haLWyNAI/AAAAAAAACzQ/sek2YJBYiWU/s1600/20140824_153432.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I put together the Bee Germany quilt top and I think it is going to be awesome.<br />
The matching EPP pillow is in the making aswell.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FUEW89o0dgU/VA3hcYyv6oI/AAAAAAAACzY/IqWNZrsYkGM/s1600/20140828_172209.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FUEW89o0dgU/VA3hcYyv6oI/AAAAAAAACzY/IqWNZrsYkGM/s1600/20140828_172209.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So this is it for know, more to come soon. Have a fabulous week!
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sl2TFo5Dnnw/U6vPTy7jnYI/AAAAAAAACpY/hhnuRV9KK00/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sl2TFo5Dnnw/U6vPTy7jnYI/AAAAAAAACpY/hhnuRV9KK00/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+13.jpg" height="640" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOyKOJvVAgw/U6vPTgITl2I/AAAAAAAACpU/T7Nzy8Rr8nI/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOyKOJvVAgw/U6vPTgITl2I/AAAAAAAACpU/T7Nzy8Rr8nI/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+20.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Übrigens habe ich diese schönen Stöffchen von <a href="http://suleon.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Susanne</a> , die Cloud 9 Stoffe und andere Schätze in ihrem online <a href="http://de.dawanda.com/shop/Quilt-it-out" target="_blank">shop</a> "Quilt it Out" verkauft.<br />
<br />
<br />
Summer is here ( at least sometimes..). A good reason to sew some fresh dresses and tops. Yesterday it was raining cats and dogs, but I felt quite sunny while working on a fresh top made out of the cloud 9 fabric called "Shape of spring".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsAYl-HYuxk/U6vPTgzNL9I/AAAAAAAACpc/g2at0RP0bF0/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SsAYl-HYuxk/U6vPTgzNL9I/AAAAAAAACpc/g2at0RP0bF0/s1600/Kleidung+%E2%80%93+16.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the petal pink fabric because I love these tangerine and yellow shades. I used my own pattern. As I got many questions recently if I sell my patterns as well, I wanted to ask if somebody has a recommendation on some pattern programms for making Pdf patterns. I am not very good with computers, so I would be very grateful if somebody knows an easy and affordable program?<br />
<br />
But back to my summer wardrobe. I use to sew some very light summer dresses for my shop recently and took the chance to make something for me. Here I used the Cloud9 La Venta Voile.It is so incredibly soft and I loved sewing with it. It worked like a charm.<br />

Everything has already been said.<br />
Here after all are two finished quilts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JBa_erHnX8w/U6cHWJadAdI/AAAAAAAACoA/ega0-beL4Ls/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+170.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JBa_erHnX8w/U6cHWJadAdI/AAAAAAAACoA/ega0-beL4Ls/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+170.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
One for me and one for a friend of mine from my gospel choir. It was a commission and I am so happy that it worked out and he loves his quilt.<br />
He loves it so much, he even hides it from his cat when he is away. Please imagine that really, and I mean really big guy, covered in this quilt, sitting on his balkony in the evening, when the weather is bad... I find it just to cute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XcNNLIVV2K0/U6cHVzFi1TI/AAAAAAAACn4/Ar4FjF5uPAo/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+172.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XcNNLIVV2K0/U6cHVzFi1TI/AAAAAAAACn4/Ar4FjF5uPAo/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+172.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately I had to hurry to give it to him, so I just could make a few fast shots inside, I hope you can see the beauty. I quilted it at our sooo awesome Bee Germany quilt retreat in May. Ladies, once again I had a blast!<br />
Here is a picture of the wonderful things we made.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WHgQoTqov2s/U6cIolpmNhI/AAAAAAAACpE/TAoqxWInpvE/s1600/Bee+Germany+Trip+Mai+14+%E2%80%93+78.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WHgQoTqov2s/U6cIolpmNhI/AAAAAAAACpE/TAoqxWInpvE/s1600/Bee+Germany+Trip+Mai+14+%E2%80%93+78.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
At the retreat I also quilted this one, which I don´t know how to name, is this one a fancy fan quilt?? Yeah, why not- let me introduce you to "The Fancy Fan Quilt".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1y_AbQPq70Y/U6cHWG7oc-I/AAAAAAAACn8/JGuuz_7bQs0/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+176.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1y_AbQPq70Y/U6cHWG7oc-I/AAAAAAAACn8/JGuuz_7bQs0/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+176.jpg" height="640" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qHXvbPcdxfE/U6cHWooUeDI/AAAAAAAACoI/U_JwgeixShk/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+179.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qHXvbPcdxfE/U6cHWooUeDI/AAAAAAAACoI/U_JwgeixShk/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+179.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
I am sleeping under this beauty for a few weeks now, except the nights, when temperature was over 27 degrees celsius at night, and it feels amazing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GQtayxKQVQc/U6cHW4KV_0I/AAAAAAAACoM/BIaUvSM3lSo/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+185.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GQtayxKQVQc/U6cHW4KV_0I/AAAAAAAACoM/BIaUvSM3lSo/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+185.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Kxu2Rb5umpM/U6cHXAXL7uI/AAAAAAAACok/xvk6djudtHk/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+192.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Kxu2Rb5umpM/U6cHXAXL7uI/AAAAAAAACok/xvk6djudtHk/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+192.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
This one is so fluffy and cosy. Makes me want to make another one. There are still two quilts waiting in line to be quilted. Sooner or later I am getting there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rI47_6Q7KCE/U6cHXaGntuI/AAAAAAAACoU/93EUVX3LxHM/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+198.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rI47_6Q7KCE/U6cHXaGntuI/AAAAAAAACoU/93EUVX3LxHM/s1600/Fertige+Quilts+%E2%80%93+198.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
At last I want to tell you about my lovely afternoon today. I went with a friend to her garden a bit outside of Berlin and we harvested some green walnuts. I climbed into the tree, and I really mean climbed. I so enjoyed it, as this is something I didn´t do for let us say 30 years? It was such good fun. Now the walnuts all lay pricked in a water brine for the next days and in about two weeks I will pickle them with a malt vinegar/ herb mixture and at the end after a few months I will hopefully have these wonderfully delicious black walnuts, I once ate six years ago on my trip in Australia. I never had seen them before and was just so happy when I found a recipe and found out that my friend has a walnut tree in her garden.<br />
Here is a <a href="http://www.hedgerowharvest.org.uk/hedge-recipes/item/47-pickled-walnuts" target="_blank">link</a> to a recipe, so that you know what I am talking about.<br />
At the end of our nut picking afternoon we picked some wild flowers and this is the wonderful bouquet I brought home.<br />
How such a short little trip, not to forget the stop at the lake where we ate some <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solyanka" target="_blank">Solyanka</a>, a soup which was often eaten in the GDR, how such hours can make me feel like I was on holidays.<br />
Thank you sunday!<br />
I hope you had a good one, too!<br />

I totally forgot to show you the finished Glam Clam Quilt which I started in the fall at our Bee Germany meeting in Frankfurt. The übertalented <a href="http://www.thequiltengineer.com/" target="_blank">Quiltengineer Latifah Saafir</a> has a wonderful pattern which she offers at <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/glam-clam-quilt-12/61623" target="_blank">Craftsy</a> for free and this is what I used.<br />

<br />
Here I can show you some pictures, also with the (somehow) matching pillows I made recently.<br />

<br />
I wish you all a wonderful, sunny and happy week!!<br />

Here is just a quick little post, because I am in a hurry for my swing dance lessons. And as you know, tomorrow is not monday anymore---no monday makers. Tada. Here you go. I finished a lot today, but this is a quilt I had lying around for a while, I am very happy, that I managed to finish it finally. And I like how it turned out. Some boring 16patch blocks became this quite nice quilt. I guess I am giving this in the shop with some pillows, which I am going to show you another time. Happy Monday for you all.

Good for them, that they had fun. I was awake! And I couldn´t fall asleep again. At six I decided I had to get up. At 7 I decided I had to make a <a href="http://www.robertkaufman.com/quilting/quilts_patterns/cargo_duffle/" target="_blank">cargo duffle</a>. Now at nearly six in the evening I am done. The bag is finished. Nearly. Inside there is still a mess, but this will be solved tomorrow with the serger at work. It is a wonderful pattern by <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/" target="_blank">noodlehead</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kCl0sZ-f1wY/Uy8RFqT-yFI/AAAAAAAACkI/l9_UxNlFpQ4/s1600/DSC_0019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kCl0sZ-f1wY/Uy8RFqT-yFI/AAAAAAAACkI/l9_UxNlFpQ4/s1600/DSC_0019.jpg" height="640" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
As I made a promise to myself not to start new projects, this was a bit of a compromise. I used the Anna Maria hexies, I had lying around for ages. I like the look they give the cargo duffle. Because I didn´t want to cover all the hexies, I decided to just make one little pocket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-10ohDGtdwCU/Uy8RF4vnozI/AAAAAAAACkM/IjFLzIb2UKE/s1600/DSC_0012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-10ohDGtdwCU/Uy8RF4vnozI/AAAAAAAACkM/IjFLzIb2UKE/s1600/DSC_0012.jpg" height="428" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately my "new" old sewing machine had some tension problems and the quilted area in the dark fabric doesn´t look so nice. But you know what I don´t care. I like the bag, I think I am going to use it quite often, is has the perfect size, maybe even for a everyday use...?<br />
Here you go, the Cargo Duffle. And the little pocket still needs some snaps.<br />
<br />

<div>
I don´t have to mention that I didn´t write for a while, you might have noticed. I said it before, the changes flickr made and the fact that I am using instagram now, made me writing blogposts very rarely. Unfortunately. I enjoyed blogging, well maybe I can find my mojo back sometimes.</div>
<div>
Why am I writing today? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Z5hGAvEZoE/UyHlGSQnw-I/AAAAAAAACjk/-YDgSfMYXD8/s1600/IMG_20140313_133035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Z5hGAvEZoE/UyHlGSQnw-I/AAAAAAAACjk/-YDgSfMYXD8/s1600/IMG_20140313_133035.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div>
I want to proudly announce my appearance in a phantastic quilt book that came out a few weeks ago. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1612120636/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d3_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0H2ZRYDPH6XPPEBN97BE&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846" target="_blank">"Quilting with a modern slant"</a> by Rachel May. This book arrived in the mail today and that really was a good day to arrive, as I am a bit lost today, figuring out how my little design business is going to go on without the shop. I realized that there is a whole new world in front of me, finding other ways to sell and finally dig into the world of social media for my business. A new facebook page for my fashion label already was made today, now I am just waiting for sunday where I am going to make some product photos...</div>
<div>
But back to the book: Rachel was so nice to ask me if I wanted to be part of her book and of course I said yes. So here we go. I couldn´t show you this quilt earlier, allthough it has been finished for nearly two years. It is called sunny Berlin. This is what Berlin (and the rest of Germany) is thesedays. It is extremely sunny and warm, and I definitely love that!</div>
<div>

Today I took a day off! With all your lovely comments and advice (thanks a lot!!!) in mind I got up early, took the train and headed to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wannsee" target="_blank">Wannsee</a>. I walked for three hours and then took a historical bus back to the city.<br />
I enjoyed this day extremely. Allthough I noticed how hard it was for me not to think about what is going to be with my business. I have no answer. But for now I take it as it is. I still have one month left in the shop, thats nearly four weeks. Weeks where so much unexpected can happen.<br />
Until then I try to stay calm and relaxed and don´t stress myself about what should be, should happen or is going to come.<br />

I am doing fine, in case you wondered why I was absent for the past few months.<br />
I have to say, I think I lost all my creativity. And this is not just in quilting. As some of you may know, I am a fashion designer, so being creative is my business. It is essential. Over the last months I worked extremely hard, preparing the christmas market season, which is very important for me as it brings a lot of money (if everything works out just fine). This year it was soso. Not terrible but not great either. After the sewing,sewing, doing markets, sewing and doing markets again, I got so extremely exhausted. I always told myself, when it is all over I will refresh myself and then do some exiting new things again. My partner in the shop and I decided to close our shop at the end of january. We both feel the need of more freedom. I had a shop for five years now and I think I need a break.<br />
Now that I had some days off, I think I have to start thinking about all the new things I should start and organize and also be creative, quilt a little, think about new products and so on, but I have to say, I absolutely don´t have any ideas. And also no energy.<br />
Well this answers it already, I guess I still need some more time off to regain energy, fun and maybe creativity will appear again (hopefully).<br />
Does anybody of you have any tips how to regain creativity? I would be very thankful for every advice...Berlinquilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09845325879160516952noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6086923700490054482.post-24820194035012606312013-10-31T08:58:00.001+01:002013-10-31T08:58:54.384+01:00A long term projectThis is about a quilt top I finished yesterday evening. For me it is a long term project. Allthough... sometimes I read about quilts that have been lying around for many years. That didn´t happen to me yet... But there are some bits and pieces in the depth of my drawer...:-)<br />
But back to this quilt top.<br />
I really love it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rfNFIpwFiIM/UnINTCZm9PI/AAAAAAAACh4/gg-lVhwke1E/s1600/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+76.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rfNFIpwFiIM/UnINTCZm9PI/AAAAAAAACh4/gg-lVhwke1E/s640/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+76.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
A few months ago I bought "Material Obsession" by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke. This quilt pattern is not one of the books but I was very inspired by the way they put fabric and pattern together. So lets say I was hardly inspired!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E8OXQ5xmQoo/UnINTMuSlLI/AAAAAAAACiA/3iNMz6BW9p0/s1600/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+81.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E8OXQ5xmQoo/UnINTMuSlLI/AAAAAAAACiA/3iNMz6BW9p0/s640/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+81.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
So the first thing I had to do this morning, as soon as the light was right ( the sun just had climbed over Berlins city roofs) I went into my backyard and took some pictures.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ar8SmXp8soM/UnINTKh5trI/AAAAAAAACh8/Jmoq8hUU6Mk/s1600/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+83.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ar8SmXp8soM/UnINTKh5trI/AAAAAAAACh8/Jmoq8hUU6Mk/s400/Quilt+WIP+%E2%80%93+83.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Quilting it might take some more time, as I am really busy with work until christmas...and there are two other tops waiting.<br />
But this op waited so long to be finsihed, it can wait a little longer to become a proper quilt.<br />
Take Care and have a sunny day!<br />
<br />

Amy at "<a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/blog/" target="_blank">Amy´s creative Side</a>" hosts the <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/2013/10/25/bloggers-quilt-festival-fall-2013/" target="_blank">Blogger´s Quilt Festival</a>. At this festival the most wonderful and creative quilters and quilts come together to inspire and be inspired.<br />
This year I will participate with the babyquilt I made recently and blogged about it <a href="http://berlinquilter.blogspot.de/2013/09/the-double-wedding-ring-selvage-baby.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wNmSqzGT2d4/UmzO-K5SxcI/AAAAAAAACg4/3wksmT-oTec/s1600/DSC_0217.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wNmSqzGT2d4/UmzO-K5SxcI/AAAAAAAACg4/3wksmT-oTec/s400/DSC_0217.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It is a traditional double wedding ring pattern and I used some of my beloved selvages for it. For the backround I used some vintage inspired fabric prints by Denyse Schmidt and Jenn Ski.<br />
It is a baby quilt but at the moment it hangs on my bedroom wall and enlightens my mornings when I wake up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KcwmBAvQyoY/UmzOlV8J8QI/AAAAAAAACgY/5PjRLcmoTcs/s1600/DSC_0205.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KcwmBAvQyoY/UmzOlV8J8QI/AAAAAAAACgY/5PjRLcmoTcs/s400/DSC_0205.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For the photo shoot I went to one of my favorite spots in my city Berlin. It is a little island in the river Spree. I spent hours there, every spot seemed to be the perfect setting, but at the end I had to decide. These are the photos I loved best.<br />
<br />

<br />
I enter this quilt and the photos of it to the category "<a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/2013/10/25/bloggers-quilt-festival-quilt-photographer-2/" target="_blank">Quilt Photographer</a>".<br />

My partner has a more subtle modern sense of style, so I had to go a little bit out of my comfort zone. At the end I quite like what I did and I hope my partner does,too. These where the fabric I chose, some solids, some "collage" and some "wordplay" one of my favorite fabric lines forever!<br />

This is what I came up with. I quilted some parts with a red/orange pearlcotton thread.<br />

I just have to say, this swap is amazing, the work that the participants do, is awesome and very special. Thank you Aylin for bringing this wonderful group of people together... again!<br />

<br />
A few weeks ago I sat in my "studio" wondering what to sew next. I saw my selvages and somehow came up with the idea of using them in a double wedding ring quilt pattern. I enjoyed the making and the result so much, that I went on and finished four blocks of it, the perfect size for a babyquilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t1B7EGZgr8g/UkmLD1jAsLI/AAAAAAAACec/XAcdZ2FOr8o/s1600/DSC_0228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t1B7EGZgr8g/UkmLD1jAsLI/AAAAAAAACec/XAcdZ2FOr8o/s640/DSC_0228.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Today I have my day of, and so I took my good camera and the cute quilt and drove to a special sight at the edge of Berlin to the <a href="http://www.google.de/imgres?q=insel+der+Jugend+Berlin&sa=X&biw=1600&bih=944&tbm=isch&tbnid=qJZbpnLSSgLK4M:&imgrefurl=http://www.fotos-aus-der-luft.de/Berlin/Treptow-Koepenick_Insel_der_Jugend_01.html&docid=SlqN2II_Z04j8M&imgurl=http://www.fotos-aus-der-luft.de/luftbild/10533-4/Treptow-Koepenick_Insel_der_Jugend_01&w=800&h=536&ei=aodJUqKJMMbHswbCtoGQDw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=568&page=1&tbnh=126&tbnw=157&start=0&ndsp=36&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:0,i:122&tx=106&ty=65" target="_blank">"Insel der Jugend" ("The isle of youth")</a>. This little island surrounded by the River Spree is very special to me, as I went there every day a few years ago, when I was in the middle of a heavily depressed time. The calm, the sun and the water helped me to recover and because of the nice landscape I came back later for fashion- and now even for quilt-shootings. As I did today.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MO5h9seZKPM/UkmLEYiq3nI/AAAAAAAACeY/GlhIX7lRHow/s1600/DSC_0316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MO5h9seZKPM/UkmLEYiq3nI/AAAAAAAACeY/GlhIX7lRHow/s640/DSC_0316.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7jl7tiaT8C8/UkmLDiS1K6I/AAAAAAAACeA/-MYgAob9tNg/s1600/DSC_0205.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7jl7tiaT8C8/UkmLDiS1K6I/AAAAAAAACeA/-MYgAob9tNg/s640/DSC_0205.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately it was very windy and I forgot to bring all the tools which could have fixed the quilt to trees, railings, bushes etc.<br />
Because of that I was quite afraid a few times and already imagined me jumping into the icecold and dirty water to get my lovely quilt out. Luckily me and the quilt arrived safely back home. With some nice pictures on the camera.<br />
<br />
Here you can see them, be aware, there are many of them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lfcDo-pVHhY/UkmLEEqQQBI/AAAAAAAACeU/K-EFEgcqSVo/s1600/DSC_0312.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lfcDo-pVHhY/UkmLEEqQQBI/AAAAAAAACeU/K-EFEgcqSVo/s640/DSC_0312.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
By the way, the pattern I used is from <a href="http://comfortstitching.typepad.co.uk/comfortstitching/2010/09/pickledish-quilt-a-long-part-one-cutting-the-templates.html" target="_blank">Aneela Hoeys Pickledish Quiltalong</a> from 2010. Back then I made my <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/36887462@N03/5653282624/in/set-72157624949012536" target="_blank">first Queen sized quilt</a> with this pattern.<br />
As some recommended I will enter this quilt in the <a href="http://www.nycmetromodquilters.com/dwr-challenge-2/" target="_blank">DWR Callenge</a> hosted by the NYC MOD Quilt Guild. Who knows... :-)<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgxJUAkzHtQ/UiSzkvKBJVI/AAAAAAAACdU/4dY77opQO68/s1600/DSC_0208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgxJUAkzHtQ/UiSzkvKBJVI/AAAAAAAACdU/4dY77opQO68/s400/DSC_0208.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It is really a shame and a pity. Instagraming made me a very lazy blogger. And also I don´t feel as inspired by browsing flickr as I used to. And this is definitively not because the work shown is less amazing, but spending time on flickr is not as much fun as it was before they changed everything. I can`t even explain, what it is, I just don´t like it anymore.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2fS2BhuVF3s/UiSzktsk8ZI/AAAAAAAACdQ/ybccbl8j888/s1600/DSC_0222.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2fS2BhuVF3s/UiSzktsk8ZI/AAAAAAAACdQ/ybccbl8j888/s400/DSC_0222.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And then today when I posted a work in progress picture of a quilt I am working on instagram, I noticed that it really made me sad that you couldn´t see the nice colours that these fabrics have and so I decided to get out my good camera and for a day not to use the crappy phone camera.<br />
The light outside is quite dark anyway, its fall here now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1Qh8wcTUcVA/UiSzlW3o74I/AAAAAAAACdo/0xk5r-o4nT4/s1600/DSC_0224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1Qh8wcTUcVA/UiSzlW3o74I/AAAAAAAACdo/0xk5r-o4nT4/s640/DSC_0224.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
One more reason to stay inside, making quilts and music. This is what I do on my free day, today.<br />
So, long story short, here you go, see some pictures of my latest work in progress quilt. This is the first time I wanted to make a fall quilt. I chose a lot of greens and browns and some aquas and I think the result will definitively have a autumn feel to it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PPrGQQ-DmlI/UiSzkoZx4uI/AAAAAAAACdM/0bTHCPnXMvY/s1600/DSC_0223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PPrGQQ-DmlI/UiSzkoZx4uI/AAAAAAAACdM/0bTHCPnXMvY/s400/DSC_0223.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
By the way I am using my Singer featherweight for it, as my very fast other vintage singer machine had a break down a few weeks ago. Gotta go to the sewing machine doctor soon.<br />
Yesterday I cleaned and oiled the featherweight and at first I didn´t have the feeling that it run better, but now I am quite satisfied.<br />
This is it for today.<br />
I wish you all a calm and peaceful week!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QDFn0JOFopo/Uf5Hr5TtihI/AAAAAAAACcU/xJ9vsuhtGOg/s1600/DSC_0207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="409" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QDFn0JOFopo/Uf5Hr5TtihI/AAAAAAAACcU/xJ9vsuhtGOg/s640/DSC_0207.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
In my quite excessive production mood recently I worked on some projects and also on this quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EomtijhbDkw/Uf5HsO7azAI/AAAAAAAACcY/xazLEawI9Zk/s1600/DSC_0209.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EomtijhbDkw/Uf5HsO7azAI/AAAAAAAACcY/xazLEawI9Zk/s640/DSC_0209.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It is finished now (when I took this photo a few moments ago, it was still damp from the washing machine). But this is it. I like it a lot. It reminds me a lot of the <a href="http://berlinquilter.blogspot.de/2013/03/the-quilt-that-catches-sun.html" target="_blank">scrappy trips quilt</a> I made earlier this year. It might be because of the colours I have in my stash and I tend to use.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aqK6LnI6qn4/Uf5HsOpn0RI/AAAAAAAACck/pWsoMydjYzA/s1600/DSC_0205.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aqK6LnI6qn4/Uf5HsOpn0RI/AAAAAAAACck/pWsoMydjYzA/s640/DSC_0205.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<br />
So, but I have to admit, that I am done with y-seams for a while now. The quilts I made recently is t<a href="http://www.fatquarterly.com/issue-14-designer-challenges.html" target="_blank">his one</a>, <a href="http://berlinquilter.blogspot.de/2013/07/progress.html" target="_blank">this</a> and now this, gace me enough of them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-35dhbDAYWrs/Uf5Hs-L239I/AAAAAAAACco/FgSYC98IR3U/s1600/DSC_0210.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-35dhbDAYWrs/Uf5Hs-L239I/AAAAAAAACco/FgSYC98IR3U/s640/DSC_0210.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
You can call me the Queen of Y-Seams, just do it! And I am going to straight lines.<br />
Have a wonderful sunday everybody.<br />

who has visited me here for a little while knows, that I write about my mental state from time to time.<br />
I have been looking for a possibility to incooperate my feelings and my personal and emotional characteristics into a quilty project.<br />
After I had the improv quilting class with <a href="http://blu-shed.blogspot.de/" target="_blank">Lu Summers</a> at the Fat Quarterly retreat ( Which was awesome by the way!!!) two weeks ago, I knew how to start. Next thing I did, I ordered some more solids from <a href="http://www.stoffundstil.de/" target="_blank">stoff und stil</a> a not so pricey online fabric shop based in Denmark.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1xxlovhTK8/UfezsGpBOZI/AAAAAAAACb8/E5EKb126i7A/s1600/DSC_0088.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1xxlovhTK8/UfezsGpBOZI/AAAAAAAACb8/E5EKb126i7A/s400/DSC_0088.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the thing:<br />
I wrote down some emotions/characteristics, which I deal with more or less often.<br />
For every one of them I closed my eyes, thought about that emotion and waited what forms and colours would appear in my inner eyes. Then I scribbled these forms down and wrote down the colours.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wH90XoXvfwE/UfezsLDA2QI/AAAAAAAACbw/ZRkVkGV6WNY/s1600/DSC_0089.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wH90XoXvfwE/UfezsLDA2QI/AAAAAAAACbw/ZRkVkGV6WNY/s400/DSC_0089.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For every emotion I want to make a 12" block, using several improv sewing techniques (some of them I learned at Lu´s class). If it is going to be a quilt later or a instalation of quilted squares, I don´t know yet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SLnO7MUEBHw/Ufezs5oq0LI/AAAAAAAACcA/US9ojZUFC2c/s1600/DSC_0094.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SLnO7MUEBHw/Ufezs5oq0LI/AAAAAAAACcA/US9ojZUFC2c/s400/DSC_0094.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I just found the idea of dealing with emotions from another approach quite interesting.<br />
My first block was made yesterday evening and I would be interested if you can guess which emotion I had in mind.<br />
Please leave a comment if you have and idea!<br />
